Making Learning Fun

January 24, 2014 No Comments

Hi readers,

Today I’ve been writing my lesson plan for two quick-sketching classes I’m teaching this weekend. It keeps reminding me how much fun it is to use quick-sketching, drawing and painting as an alternate way to observe and learn about the world around us. I use sketching at the zoo, to teach myself about animal anatomy. When I’m out painting landscapes I find myself observing flora and fauna (and even rocks!) more intensely, and I get a heightened awareness of how things are put together. This is a concept I’m trying to express in the Jackson’s Adventures e-book series.  In “Jackson’s History Adventure” our protagonist paints his history report to make learning more fun. I’ve used that illustration for this week’s coloring page. In the second work-in-progress  e-book, “Jackson’s Aviation Adventure”, he uses art as a vehicle to learn about airplanes.  Hope you enjoy the coloring pages!

Thanks, Rita
