Outside the capital, you can take a tour or rent a bicycle to explore the old sugar, coffee and cacao plantations along the Commewijne River. Most of Suriname is covered by untouched nature so a trip here is a good way to see all the wildlife and flora. There are various national parks including Galibi Coppename Nature Reserve (where you can see turtle breeding grounds at certain times of the year), Central Suriname Nature Reserve (40% of its wildlife is only found in the Guianas), and Brownsberg Nature Park.

It can take up to 72 hours for the e-tourist card to be processed.
