The city has a superb public transport system, so getting around should not present any difficulties. There is also a handy ferry across the harbour, which provides a nice sight-seeing opportunity as well.

Getting from the Airport to the City

The 7 mile route from Christchurch International Airport (CHC) into the city centre takes around 30 minutes by bus. You can also choose an express service which costs a little more but takes less time. Shuttle services are offered by cab firms, and there are ordinary taxis to catch as well, all of them licensed by the airport. You can also arrange a car rental from the arrivals terminal, but it’s advisable to book this beforehand.
