It takes approximately 2h 40m to go from the UK to Serbia via a direct flight. However, there may be factors that increase your travel time. Your departure and arrival airports will play a role, as will the choice of a flight with one or two stopovers. The most common point of departure for flights to Serbia from the UK is London with London Heathrow and London Stanstead both being popular airports. London Luton also offers plenty of flights to Serbia. There are five international airports in Serbia, but the most popular is Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. It’s located about 15 miles west of the city proper.
The only city in the UK that offers direct flights to Serbia is London, with London Heathrow being the only airport to do so. Note that direct flights only land in Belgrade, Serbia. However, if you wish to add one or two stopovers to your flight, it can open up numerous other cities, including Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool, Glasgow, Belfast, and many more. Note that even a single stopover can increase your travel time up to 7h 55m depending on the airline you choose, but it can also reduce your flight costs. Two stopovers can increase your travel time up to 12h or more. Some of the more common stopover points include Istanbul and Ankara.
Renting a car is the best way to get around Serbia. The roads are relatively well maintained and easy to navigate. Note that if you rent a car, make sure you understand where you’re allowed to drive and where you cannot. The bus system is also well developed, although service can be sporadic outside of urban areas. There are no domestic flights available, despite the number of airports in the country. There is a train that runs between Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Nis, and Uzice.
Serbia offers a wide range of things to do and see. For wide livers, Podrum Probus is a popular stop. The Special Nature Reserve at Uvac is also popular. Oplenac and the Church of the Holy Mother of God are both interesting sites, and Saint Petka’s Chapel is stunning. If you’re in Belgrade, make sure to visit Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress. Stopica Cave and Sremski Karlovci are also worth a visit.
Yes, you will need a valid passport to enter Serbia and it should be valid for the duration of your stay.
