Contact

Etihad Airways can be contacted using the numbers found here.

Delayed, missing or damaged luggage

In the event that you arrive at your destination without your checked baggage, in most cases the delayed baggage is located within 24 hours and can be delivered to your home, office or hotel if local customs regulations permit. If you reported the mishandling of your baggage prior to leaving the airport on arrival, you will have been given a PIR. You can use the File Reference Number provided to trace your baggage online. In the event that baggage is considered to be lost then, the compensation will be in accordance with the Montreal Convention, where applicable.

You can trace your baggage via the Worldtracer site here.

If, on arrival, you find that your baggage has been damaged, you will need to file a damaged baggage report at the Etihad Airways baggage services desk before leaving the airport. If you have left the airport without reporting, you can notify the airline about your damaged bag or any other mishandling of your baggage online . Completed baggage claims submitted online are only accepted if you are in possession of a Property Irregularity Report (PIR), however, which will need to be obtained at the airport. Your Baggage Claims Department will process your claim if your bag has not been repatriated to you within 21 days from reporting your delayed baggage.

Here is the claim form.

Compensation for baggage

Etihad’s liability for damage to baggage is, as a rule, limited to 332 Special Drawing Rights (approximately $400 or equivalent in local currency) per passenger.

You may wish to make a special declaration of value before you fly or buy yourself insurance to cover instances where the actual value or replacement cost of the baggage exceeds this liability.

Where the Warsaw Convention applies to your carriage, note that the maximum amount of 17 Special Drawing Rights (approximately $20 or equivalent in local currency) per kilogram, or any higher sum agreed to by the airline, applies to baggage damage

Where the Montreal Convention applies to your carriage, the maximum amount of 1131 Special Drawing Rights (approximately $1800 or equivalent in local currency) per passenger, or any higher sum agreed to by the airline, applies to damage to both unchecked and checked baggage.
